National Science Digital Library  Funded by the National Science Foundation this site is an excellent online network of learning environments and resources for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education at all levels.

Science Links:   This site is supported by AAAS and Marco Polo  Science NetLinks resources support standards-based teaching and learning, and are reviewed by the Science NetLinks Board of Reviewing Editors according to rigorous review criteria. Lesson are divided by grade levels from K-12.

NSTA WebNews:  Article summaries provided by the NSTA WebNews Digest for nationwide news for science educators.

Discovery School:   This site provides useful information, activities, clip art, and puzzlemakers for students, teachers and parents.

Scholastic A website for K-8 teachers with a variety of activities for social studies, language arts, math and science. This site also includes information about assessment resources.

Flinn
Useful information and resources for all science classrooms. If you need a Materials Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for a particular chemical check this website.

Advanced Placement Digital Library for Biology, Physics and Chemistry National Science Foundation (NSF) funded project that provides access to a database of science resource links for teachers and students engaged in Advanced Placement (AP) and Pre-AP level classes. Resources are reviewed by experienced teachers and linked to specific topics commonly taught in these courses. Requires registration (free).

Multicultural/Nonsexist Education

People Doing Science   Presents profiles of researchers and other professionals involved with biomedical science on the job.

4000 Years of Women in Science  Use this site to study the contributions of women in science.

Nobel Internet Archive  This site maintains information on all winners in all categories. The Nobel categories include:  chemistry, physiology and medicine, physics, literature, peace, economics.

The Faces of African Americans in Science    Profiled here are African American men and women who have contributed to the advancement of science and engineering.

Contributions of 20th Century Women to Physics  A useful site which contains 83 links to webpages of successful women in physics.

OPS Research Web Page
This page is maintained by the OPS professional library and is excellent source for educational research. Many of the sites must be accessed through an OPS computer.

A science web directory, tutor and research/learning center for everyone. Provides 20,000 science links.

Glencoe Textbooks: Glencoe Textbooks on-line.  This site is available for teachers and students.

NASA WMAP  
A NASA Explorer Mission site that contains information of the history of the stars and the Big Bang Theory. Useful in the study of astronomy.

NASA Imagine  This site studies the life and death of stars and gives students a glimpse into the mysteries of the universe.  It is created by the Laboratory for High Energy Astrophysics at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.

Biology

Virtual Geography This module is part of the Virtual Geography Department Project and has been prepared for the Physical Geography Working Group of the Project. These materials may be used for study, research, and education, developed by Susan Woodward, Department of Geography, Radford University.

Classroom of the Future-Biomes This web site might be useful for students researching information for a biome project.

Cells Alive:  Useful website to view different cells with different types of microscopes. The site is also helpful when studying the stages of mitosis.

Blue Fugates of Troublesome Creek Interesting website that studies the pedigree of a family that has passed a recessive trait several generations.  Useful when studying genetics.

101science   A useful site to research particular elements.

Webelements
This site aims to be a high quality source of information about the periodic table.

Chemical Elements
The site is useful to students who are researching chemical elements.

Physics

Physics Hot Stuff    
A website maintained by the University of Tennessee department of physics and astronomy.  Includes useful resources and links for teachers and students.

Physics Zone
  This site is designed to be a resources for learning introductory level, algebra based physics.  Lessons and reviews are organized by topic.

Sprott's Physics Demos (University of Wisconsin)  This site is maintained by Dr. Julien Sprott and contains many useful demonstrations that could be used by physics teachers.

Physics Tutorials  This site is maintained by the University of Guelph in Canada.  Contains remedial physics lessons to help students who may be having problems.

Physics Classroom  The website is hosted by Studyworks On-line.   The site contains three separate areas of study:  1. Physics Tutorial-review concepts and provides quizzes to check for understanding.  2. Multimedia Physics Studio-Helps students visualize Newton's Laws of Motion.  3.  Physics Help-Hones the skills of students through graphing problems, recognizing forces and identifying vector magnitude and direction

Middle School Science


Science Spot  This site has many useful ideas for middle school teachers.

Chem4Kids   A chemistry site for the middle school student.  Useful site to study the states of matter.

Middle School Hub  Useful site for teachers and students; there are labs and quizzes available.

Rube-Goldberg Models  This site provides a good lead-in for the simple machine inquiry.

Elementary Science


Enchanted Learning   An excellent educational web site which is designed to capture the imagination while maximizing creativity, learning, and enjoyment.  Some of the better areas of the site include:  year-long activity calendars, graphic organizers, the alphabet, biomes, bats, weather, the water cycle, geology and rocks, levels of the atmosphere. clouds.  This is a very comprehensive site. Take some time to explore it.

The Yuckiest Site on the Internet  Kids love this site that contains topics such as:  Worm World, Roach World and Gross &  Cool Body Science.

Ology:   The American Museum of Natural History's  web site for kids ages seven through twelve, is based on the premise that "everyone wants to know something," and is designed as a place for kids to explore, ask questions, get answers, meet OLogists, play games, and see what other kids are interested in.

Food Webs   An interactive site that allows students to make their own food web and to print their individual food web for themselves or the class.
