ATTN: Nebraska Mathematics and Science Teachers. A statewide needs assessment survey has been developed to document and priortize professional development needs for both content and instructional approaches to support high quality teaching and learning in math and science. All teachers are being requested to complete a survey by April 13, 2007. Information and instructions are available at NE MSP Survey.

Summer Newsletter Headlines

NATS Fall Conference will be held at Camp Calvin Crest in Fremont, NE October 25 - 27, 2007. Download presentation proposal forms, registration forms and directions to the conference from the Conference page.

NAS Celebrates 127th Anniversary Year. The NAS annual meeting will be held April 20, 2007 celebrating 127 years since its organization and its 117th annual meeting. NATS and NJAS (Nebraska Junior Academy of Sciences) are divisions of NAS, the Nebraska Academy of Sciences.

NJAS State Science Meet isheld in conjuction with the Nebraska Academy of Sciences annual meeting. Students compete in senior high and junior high divisions. Winning high school students receive scholarships to attend the American Junior Academy of Science National Convention.

The American Chemical Society is sponsoring inquiry-based training workshops this summer for high school chemistry teachers. More information is available at www.chemistry.org/education.

The NAS/NATS newsletter is sent quarterly to dues paying members. Dues are $35 per year and $10 for students. You can download a membership form or call our office at 402/472-2644 for more information.
