VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

There are many areas within the Nebraska Academy of Sciences to volunteer your time and efforts. The Academy needs volunteers to help with the different sections of the spring meeting, to help with fundraising and recruitment of new members, writing articles for the newsletter, and contributing articles and research for the proceedings and transactions. We have ongoing needs for interested and dedicated people to serve on the finance, program, policy, and scholarship committees as well as the Executive Board as vacancies develop.

The NATS division is always looking for new presenters for their Fall Conference as well as contributing authors for “The Nebraska Science Teacher Journal”. BaP, Building a Presence for Science, has a need for key leaders and points of contacts in each school in the state as we try to promote the importance of science education as well disseminate valuable information and resources to science teachers.

The Junior Academy has need for volunteers to help mentor promising Junior and Senior science students, and to provide judges and organizational help for the numerous science fairs across the state, the Science Olympiad and the Junior High science competition held each spring in conjunction with the NAS annual meeting.
